Music Raves mostly provide high BPM Beats Per Minute added or enhanced electronic drum mixes that speed up slower songs or maintain a punch to the performance. But in a Reception choice We play music as it was recorded by the artists, recording engineers and played on the radio in the eras they were released. We may increase or dec

rease the speed pitch to mix but return the song to its original release. Sometimes over mixing should bow to the chancing paces of Receptions.

In todays receptions, most DJ’s do not like to play love songs as they empty the floor. However, we like to rotate the dance floor giving different guests times to dance, times to take a break, have something to drink, eat or socialize in person. Rotating music speeds and formats keeps guests entertained while enhancing the romance of a couple’s love story.

Steve Myers DJ Bandstand therefore plays songs as they were originally recorded and not sped up or adding a faster drum beat just to keep the floor packed. We don’t have the ego issues some DJ’s do. Even if its just one love song for one couple it can be a magical memory to cherish as each person has the opportunity to dance what they either grew up with, were married to or enjoy. VOLUME AND SUBWOOFERS

The Bride and Groom need to check their venues contracts for sound requirements and policies. Steve Myers DJ Bandstand always provides sound meters to monitor levels both for the comfort and protection of not only of you and your guests but of the venue and any or all requirements of city, county regulations. Many areas have stipulations of the maximum DB decibels allowed for a performance. Some restrict the use of Subwoofers. We can compensate with regulated EQ to play a full spectrum of highs, mid-range and low frequencies in addition to using Subwoofers when allowed.

The Volume should always be the loudest ON the dance floor. But not to overdose the entire room. We can provide additional speakers so the rest of the room can hear at lower levels but still talk and listen to guests at each table. Guests should be able to hold conversations without shouting or hurting their ears.  When you are researching videos of various competitors not how sad it is to see frustrated sidelined guests who get up to move somewhere else room, move to the lobby, outside or in worst case scenarios choosing to leave early altogether.

Steve Myers DJ Bandstand actively monitors volume in DB decibels to keep the dance floor covered but not to compete with conversations in the rest of the rooms.

RADIO DJ PROFESSIONAL

1975-2000

I’m Steve Myers. I’ve presided at over 200 weddings, reunions, holiday corporate parties and events in the 1980s and 1990s all over Texas in addition to a successful radio career.

Based in the 1980s in West Texas cities of Odessa-Midland KQIP 80-86 broadcasted to over 300 miles of West Texas of the Adult Contemporary Format. 1987-1989 KNFM was the most popular FM Country Station in the market programmed by KPLX in Dallas Fort Worth with a similar reach. KLITE FM 101.1 was another where I served the Midland-Odessa Market in 1990. Throughout the decade I was a DJ on air, in nightclubs and in the Mobile DJ industry for weddings, receptions, holiday parties, charity fundraisers, and special events. It was a great decade to broadcast and in both public and private functions to provide entertainment In that decade

In the 1990s I relocated to my hometown of El Paso to complete a postponed BA and Master’s degrees in Journalism while I continued my DJ Business from that region. I was contracted to clients in Texas and New Mexico including the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, Austin and Houston areas of the state brining over 25 years of Broadcast Radio to Weddings and Nightclubs with a professional mastery of format, knowledge of music and artists with variety and diversity.

Today, I carry this specialization as a Retro DJ of Country Music from the 1980s and 1990s, Dance Hits of the 1970s Disco to highly popular crossover Dance hits of the 1980s and a variety of other formats and genres including love songs of all types and popularity. They were great decades to party in person without social media and to dance the night away. That’s what my skills, experience and rates include. WEDDING CEREMONY SOUND

Weddings prior to 2000 were generally held in Churches and Receptions in Hotel Ballrooms or Special Event Centers.

In the 2000s wedding ceremonies now take place indoors at a variety of special venues of private estates, museums, galleries, ranches or nature. Receptions as well. But the challenge remains the same: Sound Engineering to Broadcast Quality Standards in each and every space or venue. The DJ owns the equipment with Computers, Hard drives, DJ controllers, Mixers and hopefully high-end Speakers, Wireless Microphones and back up wired microphones should there be a need.

The worst thing you can have for a wedding is a malfunction that prevents the sound amplified to your guests and moreover to a Videographer if they are recording your wedding. From a Broadcast Background Steve Myers plans for every possible foreseeable problem as a challenge to overcome with instant switch over to a back-up plan. This not only is the case in sound but in power as in electricity. We use a Jackery Power Supply as an immediate back up to any power loss both for a Wedding Ceremony and Reception party.

I’ve read often of events in New York, LA, Chicago, the Midwest, Beaches or Mountains where thunderstorms or Power Blackouts occur and the reception ends. However, I’ve learned from several how they with a Jackery back-up power rig and battery recharged uprights kept the party’s going for both the event and safety of those attending able to see where they were and continue while the rest of the world was blacked out. That’s part of the RATE structure justification of a Professional with back-up systems vs Amateurs at the mercy of problems and postponed or cancelled events.

The same holds true for Wedding Ceremony sound. Even with power on many DJ’s suffice with sub-standard wireless microphones with interference situations from either cell phones, or other disruptions of signals from weak microphones to the mixer receiver wherever he or she has located. That’s why Steve Myers Productions uses Broadcast Quality and Concert High End Sennheiser Digital Microphones, Lavaliers and even wired handheld microphones as an instant switch over to keep the show in progress.

Your DJ must be a seasoned professional to operate the equipments for sound engineering, mixing and his or her own emcee hosting of scripted announcements and introductions of performances with Weddings and receptions.

Our company excels in pre planning meetings with couples in person, by telephone, face time or Zoom to plan out step by step each part of your Wedding ceremony an either Happy Hour, Dinner Music or the Reception itself with the events that must transpire on time to keep the party moving. The Bridal party arrival, procession into the reception, the parents and families, First Dance as Husband and Wife, Dances with family, then Toasts, or on microphone words from the couples themselves. The cutting of the cake, the removal of the garter and the throwing of the bouquet before the public exit. Everything must be scripted for all the hired services to follow including Photographers and Videographers.

One of the most popular add-ons for Couples at present are the private dances away from everyone in a private room. The added personal touch before leaving to the honeymoon suite or travel.

Steve Myers DJ Bandstand offers the complete packages of everything in one service provider. Need to add a singer or band to your wedding? No problem if scripted in advance. Something else like a dramatic entrance or exit? One couple left in a classic open coverable car with the microphone in their hands. Others had family or parents actually perform some or all of the ceremony. Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. And that’s why you pay what you do for a professional.

We are not a low budget DJ service. We only choose to serve a select group of mid to high end clients who are serious about the planning and execution of their wedding ceremony and reception. Our scripts are often copied for the other participants to participate in their scheduled places. And we gladly work with wedding planners and consultants as well as venues to provide a pre-arranged series of meetings and visits to plan out how everything will be set up for the couples special day and night.

WE WORK AS A TEAM WITH YOU AND ALL YOUR PROVIDERS

Pre-Planning meetings are essential. We work as a part of your origanized team to make your special day flawless.

In outdoors settings we set up under a small 5×5 White Canopy with our equipment and speakers behind your guests front the back. The front is for the wedding party and pretty unobstructed pictures. That takes a lot of coordination and pre-planning. We leave nothing to chance.

We also go the extra mile. In addition to computer assisted in order music and script support we record the audio in the event your videographer has a problem with their equipment. In some cases, with a live transmitter feed. This feature is included in the price of the wedding audio and reception as a package courtesy.

RECEPTIONS

Wedding Receptions have elements that are also scripted in advance with the couples and families for flawless execution. Some Weddings offer guest a happy hour on a patio or the venue ground where background music is an option. Receptions also offer the background for Dinner Music and often a playlist of love songs everyone might enjoy or instrumental versions to keep the room entertained and lively. These are add on options with the rate card for total package purpose. These pre-planning meetings are in person, by Zoom, FaceTime and in phone conversations makes sure the script ifs planned and executed as contracted.

I hold up to 40 hours of planning meetings with couples and families long before scheduled events take place. Many couples have specific parameters of what music they would like to hear, dance to and what should be on a do not play list. That way when guests make requests, they are either pre- approved or politely informed something is on the bridal parties do not play list.

SECURITY

One of the responsibilities of the bridal party is Security for the DJ and sound crew. If anyone from family to guest have too much to drink or are angry about do not play lists that limits their needs to party, there needs to be an appointed person to deal with the problem and not lose security of your entertainment provider. We require point a family or Bridal Party representative by contact name to intervene and defuse any security threat. It not it will null and void the contract to states the event is therefore over and we will pack up to leave immediately. Security is a non-negiotiable issue.

We will have that name to call and immediately drop the music or in progress event using the code word of that person’s name to intervene and alert security. We will resume when the threat has been neutralized or removed.

Some venues require off duty law enforcement for the serving of alcohol or may have a point of contact representative of the venue as an additional security contact.

Steve Myers DJ Bandstand always strives to have back up plans for a smooth wonderful time to be had by all. We are essentially an extension of your family and family takes care of family.

INTRODUCTION NAMES

Introductions are often a part of the reception especially as each honored guest is introduced. Therefore, it’s important we have the correct spelling and pronunciation of each guest by first and last name. In many weddings now other than the bride and grooms’ family all guests are introduced by a first name only basis. Or all enter with the bride and groom as their names only are spoken. Again, when we script events, we speak and host to the specific instructions of the bride, groom and/or their family’s and wedding witten preferences.

REQUESTS ARE NOT DEMANDS

Guest Requsts we will ask before starting are welcome but subject to the restrictions of the bridal party for any offensive music or lyrics not in keeping with a dignified reception. It should be made clear to guests that the music of the night has been pre scripted with the bridal couple and their families to provide the type of reception they wish to have.

It is by our profession that we will not use anyone’s cell phone, smart phone, iPod, or device to route through our equipment and will to the best of our ability to our own music library try to accommodate legitimate requests as timely as possible in the reception script and/or place a sign that the night has be pre planned by the couple with no requests taken.

We ask not to be bothered by any crowd that gathers around the DJ stand pushing cell phones or arguing about what they wish to hear or be played. Those things can easily be tackled at the start of the event by us as the Emcees or inserted to family programs at each table. Refer to the Security agreement for the point of contact if any guest or their guest is abusive to the entertainment.

REFERENCES AND PERMISSIONS

Because we are an ongoing business, we depend on your gracious assistance to provide written or spoken referrals regarding how well we’ve performed to your expectations and gratitude’s. Unlike the bartenders or other staff we do not expect gratuities of finances. Your package rate paid in advance is all the payment we require. But we would appreciate your written and or interviewed on camera referrals for the grade of the performance we gave you.

To that end we (unless are notified in writing) record the event on HDTV video both as proof of performance to our contract and to use if possible, for marketing to other perspective clients. Clips are usually at or under a few minutes and edited to show the progression of the wedding and reception and often the beauty of the venue. We stay in contact often with couples who refer business to us and feel we are family to them throughout our lifetimes. Nothing is more rewarding than to hear how something touched them in a special way years later when thinking or watching on video or in photos they’re special once in a lifetime event.

Writing a love story doesn’t happen by accident or chance. Same with a DJ performance. It takes at least 40 hours of preparation and planning. Which is factored into the rates I charge as a mobile DJ.

You can find a cheaper DJ but not at the quality level and experience we offer each couple.

Like the investment in a great car, a house, into furniture or art is the choice of each bride and groom means the best. There ar a variety of DJ’s on the market who are like a discount bargain store.

You may question us on our policies or rates, but our counsel is not to settle or gamble to save a few dollars in entertainment of the trade-offs that a professional DJ Company and Experienced Host offer to your event. It’s a gamble to hire someone at a low price who don’t require what we do in pre planning.

Often, discount DJ’s do what they want to do regardless of you or your invited guests. They might arrive in a pair of cutoffs, t-shirt and with $1000 of equipment to play the same 200-300 songs they do at every rave. Don’t take any chances if you have specific plans for your wedding and reception. When you hire, hire from the best and you will get what you pay for. .
